Forgotten beauty

Ruins of an old fountain. The ruins of this fountain, which must have been beautiful when it was whole, emerge every winter when the undergrowth recedes. You will find it along Forbidden Drive near Lincoln Drive. By mid spring is has disappeared again.
Detail of fountain.

Forbidden Drive sounds forboding.

Neat fountain. It's cool when you find hidden treasures like these.

What an interesting shot. I wonder who built the fountain and why it hasn't been kept up. I'm sure there must be a story behind it. It makes for an intriguing photo.

What a waste. I wonder if it was too risque in its day and somebody, more religious than most, destroyed it? And if it just got broken up over the years, maybe the pieces are under the grass and brush laying next to the remains you show now. It would be worth investigating at the local library. It looks like it was beautiful.

I wish I could see what it used to look like....

I wonder about this fountain; what it looked like, who built it and why. A piece of history here long lost.
