Lavender is the popular flavor these days among bees in this neck of the woods. Of all the other flowers they had to choose from, they decided to crowd these blooms.

It is a popular flower everywhere I think. I have some that is visited by all kinds of bees, and then there is different kinds of sage that is equally as popular.
This is a nice photo of the bumblebee and lavender, Dan.
The smell of lavender is what gets me, I wonder if bees can smell? They love flowers so much...maybe I 'd better Wikipedia that! Sorry I havent commmented much lately. I'm still alive, and still reading blogs, just so busy I haven't had time to comment :) Have a nice day!! (tell me what you think of my pic today)
Over here you can get lavender honey, made by bees which have amost exclusively fed on honey - it tastes great, but is not as much fun as heather honey - which you test by holding it upside down over your head! If it stays in the jar, the bees have fed exclusively on heather! :)

Dan Allen lives in Philadelphia's Blue Bell Hill neighborhood. He eats a lot of cheese, drinks a lot of beer, and thinks that you should too. He also loves to write and talk about these and other things pertaining to good food and drink. As much as possible, he follows a locavore life style, meaning that most of what he eats, drinks, and writes about is local to Philadelphia and environs. (By the way, he tends to go on and on about all this, so unless you have a lot of time on your hands, it's best that you not get him started.)

Good minds must think alike. I posted these yesterday, as the bees are on mine too.

I don't blame them, I love the smell of lavender too. There is something so soothing about it. Such a lovely summertime photo!
