An agreement

Spider on sink. So here’s the deal. She can stay where she is, in that inch or so of space between the cabinet and the wall. For my part, I won’t scrunch her up in a tissue and flush her down the toilet, though that would be so easy to do, given that the toilet is, after all, only three feet away. Nor will I trap her in a glass and throw her out the window to fend for herself in the wilderness of the backyard.

She, for her part, has to understand – and I don’t mean to give offense, I’m just telling it as it is – that the mere sight of her creeps me out. I don’t want to be rubbing elbows (my two to her eight) in the morning as I brush my teeth or do what little shaving it is that I do. She forgets this from time to time, but a rap or two of the tooth bush on the counter is sufficient to send her scurrying. When I’m not home, I don’t really care what she does. She can watch Oprah and Ellen, or surf the net. Or wait for other bugs to get caught in her web. She is not allowed into the homebrew, but so far this has not been a problem.

And finally this: I keep a messy bathroom; I know and don't need to be told. She is going to have to accept this without complaint.

Spiders are beneficial. She probably keeps your bathroom spic and span when it comes to insects.

I went to Vancouver Island once and stayed with an older couple and was given the bed in the basement as my place to sleep with the admonition: "Please do not kill the spiders. They will not harm you and they are beneficial."

When I got to the basement, opened the door and looked in, the corners of the room were alive with very large spiders. They were under the bed and just about everywhere. They were all alike. I did kill one or two but survived the night, knocked out my shoes the next morning and left when I could.

I had to get rid of one not to long ago......ours laid an egg.....and the thought of it hatching and hundreds of baby spideys crawling around all over the place didn't sit well with me.

Like you, one, I can handle!

I think Abraham's story creeped me out worse than the picture you posted! But anyway, I just have to say, "EWWW!" because I'm such a fan of spiders, NOT. My son is a serious arachnophobe, and would never allow this arrangement to go on in my home :) But good for you for allowing the thing to live. My mother says the same, "spiders are beneficial" stuff. Me, I usually just get the kleenex and don't look too close once I do the deed.
Hope your week went okay, glad to see you back!

Can you maybe make sure she has a new home before I come over this weekend? thanks

I have plenty of spiders living in the corners of my house. They don't really creep me out the way other bugs do though. As long as they stay in their spider world... all is good.

Hmm. A pet spider. I'm not so sure I'd be so nice and not put it outside. Good photo for CC. I just visited another spider CC. I'm sure the spider doesn't care how messy you keep your bathroom. It's nice and warm and cozy. lol.
